Of course, TM.

“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Oh man here I am again
I just found out that my Uncle's cousin whom I've loved and called Uncle Lon for as long as I can remember has lung cancer and isn't going to make it. This news came to from out of no where, I didn't even know he was feeling ill. Pardon the language but this sucks.
Please keep my Uncle in your prayers.

Oh my, tm, I'm really sorry that you are having all of the people that you are close with have these difficult issues.
I will definitely keep your uncle in my thoughts and prayers. And you, as well.

Lou, the husband of one of my late husband's sisters, died this morning of lung cancer. He discovered he had it the day of Gary's memorial service. It's going to be hard on his family, so prayers are definitely in order.
I'm sorry about your uncle, themary.

Take my hand, my friend. We are here to walk one another home.

Prayers for TM's uncle, and for Gary's sister and the rest of the family.

I'm sorry about all the sickness hitting people you care about, themary! That's so hard. Thinking of them and of you.
And of you, Wampus, and of Lou's family. Gary's memorial service wasn't that long ago (though it also seems like "ages," somehow) -- must have been such a hard road for Lou and his family.
sigh

I would like to ask for prayers and good thoughts for my dear, good friends Karen and Roger. Karen just told me that Roger has been diagnosed with an early stage of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. They're seeing an oncologist this morning and will learn more. She asked me for prayers, and I thought I should call in the worldwide network. . . .
Karen is the one who taught me to make tea properly (Roger's English). We met more than 20 years ago when we shared an office at a publishing company. We got pregnant at exactly the same time and our boys grew up together, going to the same schools.
They built their dream house in the hills three or four years ago, and Roger was planning to retire at the end of this year.

Thanks, Teremia. I just talked to Karen again, and she sounded heartened. They're facing further tests, but it doesn't appear that chemo is needed at this point. It's an early-stage, "indolent" form.
The oncologist gave them plenty of hope. He's one of the best anywhere—I should know, he's my oncologist too—and they couldn't be in better hands. He respects his patients' intelligence and knows that people like me and Roger (and our spouses) benefit from clear, thorough, honest information more than from handholding.
