It was very technical. at self. I had to select Read Books with Kindle in settings and then Read With Kindle when I opened the book.

The real obstacle was figuring out what account my Kindle is under.

Sometimes it's the most obvious things that are difficult. We are expecting to jump through hoops. I'll have to give it a try and see what I can work out. My kindle is not the most up-to-date device.. so we shall see.

Impish, Libby is an app that lets you borrow ebooks and audiobooks from the library where you have a card. I don't know if it's US only, or if you could get a card at a US library with it.

I'm only a quarter of the way through the first book of a four-part series, but it's such fun I wanted to share immediately.

This is soft sci-fi - all kinds of non-human species, sapients punching wormholes to create galactic highways - but even so, no shark-jumping.

Our heroes are a motley crew of 7 misfits from 4 different species (5 if you include the sapient ship AI) running a patched together tunnelling ship. They win a contract to punch a wormhole that connects a war-entrenched species in a very distant territory, and adventure ensues.

A little reminiscent of the exploits of the Serenity crew in Firefly but there appear to be no criminal endeavours (yet
... I'm only a quarter into the first book).

I love this series, and the author. I recently finished the last one in this series, and the first one of her new series - A Psalm for the Well-Built.

Right now I’m re-reading Bujold’s Penric & Desdemona series. funny & well written.

Now that I have some experience with an e-reader, I'll say: reading in bed is really annoying, since if you don't hold it in an awkward way, the orientation will suddenly flip.

Jude, you should be able to lock it. For the whole tablet or just the kindle app.

When I read from the Kindle App on my phone, if I touch the screen in the bottom right corner, an icon comes up that is either a locked or unlocked picture of a padlock. If it shows as unlocked the orientation shifts around, but if it shows as locked, it doesn't. I can toggle between the two by touching the icon when it is up on the screen.
