No, there isn't.

Posting in mere words is so limiting. Why get bogged down in tedious explanations and examinations of every aspect of everything when one can simply say

:llama:

“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Hi folks.

I am returned from mighty exploits.

I rode the Tower of Terror and lived to tell of it.

It was great. :D

Good to see that all is well with my fellow Halofirians.

That is such an evocative emoticon, isn't it?

Welcome back, vison!

The Tower of Terror, eh? I wimped out on that one. But you are clearly made of sterner stuff.

It makes no sense* to have two all-purpose emoticons. :P So, surely there is a difference in intended connotation between upside-down-thing and llama. Otherwise, putting in upside-down-thing was merely an underhanded (imperious?) attempt to subvert the llama's designated role in Halofirian culture. Since I do not believe our Imperious Leader(s) would engage in subversive activity (is subversive leader an oxymoron, anyway?), I must insist that we discover a difference between the two emoticons. Immediately.

Prim, the general idea behind words is that they mean something. I expected you, of all people, to know that. ;)

Vison, welcome back. Tell me, did you go on the Tower of Terror twice in a row immediately after dinner? That's the best way to do it! Or maybe my father and I are just completely insane. Grr, you've just made me crave thrill rides and that's not going to happen for at least a couple of months.

*Sense may be what you make of it, but "no sense" or "nonsense" suggests that no rational human being could discover any possible sense to be made. So there. ;)
I won't just survive
Oh, you will see me thrive
Can't write my story
I'm beyond the archetype
I won't just conform
No matter how you shake my core
'Cause my roots, they run deep, oh

When, when the fire's at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They're whispering, "You're out of time,"
But still I rise
This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in, think again
Don't be surprised, I will still rise

Phoo. Of course words mean something. But must we always be bound to convey things simply and clearly?

I mean, right now I'm editing a 1200-page book on vascular surgery and a 900-pager on climatology, and nobody told those guys.

And for me,

:llama:

conveys, "This is the way things are, and though they may appear improbable, there is a certain coolness to them."

conveys, "Go figure!"

To me they mean more like:

:llama: You're insane (in a nice way)

 I'm insane (and I'm enjoying it)

:wooper: We're all insane (and that's really cute)

I missed seeing this little fellow: :wooper: ! :)
but being a cheerful hobbit he had not needed hope, as long as despair could be postponed.

It all depends on what the meaning of "meaning" is.

Excellent point, Wampus!

This brings us to all sorts of existential questions, doesn't it?

Makes me feel  ! :P

I just noticed that the llama's coloration is very similar to that of my avatar. Does anyone happen to know if it has blue eyes?
