A Brief Speech

Post by Voronwë the Faithful »

I have called you altogether for a Purpose. Indeed, for two Purposes.

First of all, I want to tell you that I am immensely fond of you all, and that 1592 days is too short a time to messageboard amongst such excellent and admirable Halofirians.

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Secondly and finally, I wish to make an ANNOUNCEMENT. I regret to announce that -- though as I said 1592 days is far too short a time to spend among you -- this is the END. I am going. I am leaving NOW. GOOD-BYE!

You must remember his rank when speaking of this, vison.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

And if you leave, we hire private gators in vests to find you. =:)

Just popping into ask, nobody would happen have a really ripe 35- or 40-pound salmon lying around, would they?

If you do, could you ship it to "The Other Marshals," c/o the Hall of Fire, by UPS Ground? Thanks ever so much!

Though it's OK if you want to wait for the weather to warm up a little more.

On my walk today, I found an unidentifiable rodent (sans head), mostly decayed with bugs crawling in and out of it. Would you be interested in this? Or does it have to be a fish?

Well, sometimes it's just got to be the Salmon of Correction.

Oh, I say, it's a bit much, don't you think? Setting alligators on people?
Let the other societies take the skilled, the hopefuls, the ambitious, the self-confident. He’d take the whining resentful ones, the ones with a bellyful of spite and bile, the ones who knew they could make it big if only they’d been given the chance. Give him the ones in which the floods of venom and vindictiveness were dammed up behind thin walls of ineptitude and lowgrade paranoia.

:er: Could be!

Well, if the rodent won't do, Prim, I'm afraid you're on your own.

Fly some in, I guess. They'll be nice and ripe. Perfect for Prim...except she's in Oregon.

I can get some trout. Will trout work?

Strategic of you to show up just now, when I'm saving up my ammo.

Well the gig is up. Tricksy Primula had to go post good news in the Parlour that I couldn't help to respond to. My apologies to anyone who was worried that it was really true. Except Prim and nel, who should have known better.
