About the "The Cottage of Lost Play" Forum
In The Book of Lost Tales, the original stories that led to the eventual creation of The Silmarillion, The Cottage of Lost Play (Mar Vanya Tyaliéva) was where Eriol, the mortal mariner that made his way to Tol Eressëa, was brought to hear the Elves true history (the lost tales). In the first of the Lost Tales, The Cottage of Lost Play is described as being where "old tales, old songs, and elfin music are treasured and rehearsed." It therefore seemed an apt name for a forum devoted to the discussion of performing arts, including plays and musicals, movies and television, and music of all kinds.
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."
