Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Thin White Duke...a giant gone
Mornings wouldn't suck so badly if they came later in the day.
Re: Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Thin White Duke...a giant
best comment - today he has become Stardust
Since 1410 most Welsh people most of the time have abandoned any idea of independence as unthinkable. But since 1410 most Welsh people, at some time or another, if only in some secret corner of the mind, have been "out with Owain and his barefoot scrubs." For the Welsh mind is still haunted by it's lightning-flash vision of a people that was free.

It's almost like I forgot he was a mortal.
The man's gone. The music lives on.

I know. That makes it all the more shocking, especially given that he died from cancer that he'd been battling for 18 months.yovargas wrote:What the??? He just released a highly acclaimed literally days ago!!

Wow.
It was just his birthday, too.

Wow, I'm speechless. One of the greatest.
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

This upset me more than I thought possible, I couldn't focus at all yesterday

I'm the same; I'm very unsettled and upset, moreso than with the death of other admired public figures in recent memory.
Mandela, Iyengar, Robyn Williams...I was saddened and honoured them, but David Bowie's death rocked me.

the third single that I bought was Starman, and the first LP Ziggy Stardust

The Blackstar album is incredible. A requiem he wrote for himself, it seems.

This is probably pretty widely known, but for those who haven't seen it: David Bowie/Bing Crosby Little Drummer Boy
