They really don't look very aerodynamic. They look like they'd be clumsy flyers.

Re: Nature Pics
There actually phenomenal flyers, particularly in formation. But, as you can see in the videos I posted in the other thread, they are particularly well-designed for diving and fishing.
Here is a picture that Beth took of one of the smallest visitors that we have had.

Re: Nature Pics
Aww. I've been trying to get photos of wildlife, but they're just too skittish and my telephoto isn't good enough. I guess I'll have to settle for something more stationary, like flowers, plants, and landscapes.

Re: Nature Pics
I sure wished for a better lense to catch sight of a bird on top of the high voltage tower. I think it's a hawk?
When I got a new phone, I went for the budget option. It's a very good phone in every regard, but the camera is not top of the line.
Ah well. Most of the phone photo quality is in the software anyway.

If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Re: Nature Pics
It looks like a hawk to me.
The camera on my new phone is OK. I should spend a little time learning how to use it. It's the first mid-level phone I've had and I'm not fond of how 'assistive' (invasive) it is. I've turn off most of the 'assistive' features.

Those are nice!
Re: Nature Pics
Thought this thread was right for this pic. I’m in Dehradun. Below is a typical Dun house.

Re: Nature Pics
That is in the very far north, correct? What does 'Dun' mean?

Re: Nature Pics
Oops sorry - Dun/Doon is just short for Dehradun/Dehradoon. It’s a city in a valley in the foothills of the Himalayas. Full of traffic now. Like every other city in India.
Not very far north, just north. About 4.5 hours North-East drive from Delhi.

Re: Nature Pics
I spent yesterday on the San Francisco Bay, as part of a crew on a 51 foot sailboat. During a few quite moments, I took pics of birds (Common Murre, Brown Pelicans, Brandt's Cormorants). The seals were too fast for me. I also have lots of sailboat pics, but I'm not sure where to post those.

Great pics! The sailboat ones too (;)).
Here are some local flowers (I was thinking of our Rose when I took them. Hope you like them, Rose):

Oh yes! Very much! I recognize bougainvillea, but not the others, unless that last one is a type of mandevilla/dipladenia. I appreciate them all!

Too many pictures and videos from our almost ten mile walk at Wilder Ranch State Park, so I'll just post a link.

Re: Nature Pics
I don't know if this counts as a nature pic, but the view of the sky on my walk this evening (taken at 8:35 p.m., right at sunset) was a nice reminder to me "of how much beauty there is in the world," as Voronwë put it in this thread's OP.
