The hills are dry and golden here in the Bay Area, but there are still wildflowers blooming amidst the grasses on Fremont Peak.

This part of the trail always feels very Middle-earth-like to me.

Frelga, Tilden is such a lovely place!

I took a walk in Heather Farms Park in Walnut Creek today. The park has a small lake and a formal garden. I saw a surprising variety of fauna and flora, including slow-moving, algae-clad, red-slider turtles; sonorous bullfrogs; brightly flashing bluebirds; furry, inquisitive young squirrels; very small bass, being fished by very small boys; bathing and strutting Canada geese; and dazzling red and blue dragonflies. Some of the trees and all of the roses were blooming, for an ethereal scent in the air. Sadly, I did not have my camera with me, so you will have to use your imagination. If it weren't mid-day and 100*F, I might have lingered longer.

The sharp-eyed among you will spot two Willows in this picture. Can you find them?

Where do turkeys sleep at night? Apparently, high up in trees!

Nice!

Here's my friend today. A rare (for this area) Cooper's Hawk.
