The local swans visited my morning walking spot today.

Always makes me think of Pratchett's quote.
“Castles, in Nanny Ogg’s experience, were like swans. They looked as if they were drifting regally through the waters of Time, but in fact there was a hell of a lot of activity going on underneath.”
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Nice photo of the crow(?). Love the shadow.

Inanna, are the Swans in salt water? I didn't know they'd swim in salt water. They are nice to watch.

Have I ever mentioned that all of the swans and wild ducks I saw in New Zealand were black?

It’s the Hudson River, so not salt water yet….

I really like that pic, V.

oi. Come to our yard. We walked past a field of them this morning. I should've taken a photo. Maybe later.

I LOVE the perspective of the photo.

That's a beautiful picture! Also, I have to ask because this is bugging me: is that the High Line in Manhattan? I walked it once with a couple Internet friends while visiting for the NY Tolkien Conference, but I can't remember if 1 WTC was visible from it or not.

It's been a long time since I've been to NYC. I'd love to go again, one of these days. You must be near battery park in that photo.

Hubby would like to go to DC again too, but when we're not going into restaurants it's so much buzz-kill.

That’s taken in Jersey city - right behind the dandelion is one of the ferry terminals to NY. This was taken while irika & I were walking home from school.
